That familiar September feeling is in the air – you know the one. The urge to try something new, to invest in yourself, to shake off summer’s lethargy with fresh energy and purpose. Even as adults, we can’t escape that back-to-school excitement, and honestly, why would we want to? Autumn is traditionally the perfect time to start new classes, explore creative workshops, and embark on ventures that nurture both mind and body.

I used to love drawing when I was younger, but fell out of practice over the years. My job doesn’t allow for much artistic expression, and I've recently noticed how much I need a creative outlet in my life. Life drawing is a great way to get back into drawing, as well as to meet new people who share a common interest.

The Power of Community in a Creative Space

In our increasingly digital world, the trend toward communal activities has never been stronger. With more people working from home than ever before, there’s a genuine hunger for real human connection and shared experiences. At Brixton Warehouse, we’ve witnessed this firsthand – people don’t just want to learn new skills; they want to belong to something, to feel part of a welcoming community.

Life Drawing, Yoga, and Wellness: Meaningful Ways to Connect

Life drawing, sip and paint sessions, cake making, and crafts are topping the charts for meaningful nights out. These aren’t just activities; they’re opportunities to disconnect from screens, connect with others, and rediscover the simple joy of creating something with your hands.

Your Creative and Wellness Hub in South London

Brixton Warehouse stands as both a creative sanctuary and wellness haven, perfectly positioned in the heart of vibrant South London. We believe creativity and wellbeing are beautifully intertwined – when you nurture one, the other flourishes.

For me, life drawing is the perfect way to take a breather and get creative. Taking the time to sit still and do whatever flows out of the pencil and materials, whilst surrounded by a lovely atmosphere, music, and people, is an amazing way to spend an evening. Tip from Sam- A Simple Practice: Box Breathing (2–3 minutes)

Here’s a quick technique you can try anywhere to reset your energy and focus:

How to do it:

  1. Sit tall, relax your shoulders, and exhale fully.
  2. Inhale for 4 counts — through the nose. 1…2…3…4
  3. Hold for 4 counts — gently pause.
  4. Exhale for 4 counts — slow and steady.

Repeat the cycle for 4–6 rounds (about 2–3 minutes). You’ll feel calmer, clearer, and more present.

Tip: If 4 feels too long, start with 3 counts. If it feels easy, try 5.
